Ursuline loses field hockey semifinal

The Associated Press

DELAWARE, Ohio — Natalie DiSabato scored two second-half goals and Gahanna Columbus Academy returned to the state field hockey final with a 6-1 victory over Ursuline on Friday.

Natalie Surle broke a 1-1 tie early in the second half and added an assist for the Vikings (17-0-1), who will play Columbus Watterson for the state title today.

Ursuline ends its season at 11-4-2.

Watterson (16-1-1) advanced by beating Hudson 2-1 in Friday's other semifinal.

Lindsey Kauhn scored both goals for Watterson, tying the score 1-1 with 8:11 to play and giving her team the lead for good about three minutes later.

Columbus Academy will be trying for its third straight state championship and its fifth in seven years. The Vikings won championships in 1994 and 1997.
