Best and worst of the week in sports

The Enquirer sports department's look at who rated — good and bad — this week in sports:

Best

        1. The Fall Classic. Sure some people are tired of the Yankees. But it's one heckuva story — and that's not counting the great games.

        2. Michael Jordan. Go ahead, rip him for being too heavy, too slow, too much of a jump shooter and too full of himself. But you flipped the game on Tuesday, didn't you?

        3. Bowl Championship Series rankings. Unbeaten Miami behind once-beaten Oklahoma? Never fear. It will work out. We just figured ripping the BCS is the hip thing to do.

        4. Paul O'Neill. Admit it. You crack up every time he throws his helmet after flying out. Five rings going on six and retirement. Where are you Roberto Kelly?

        5. Prep football playoffs. What a year it's been. Now somebody rise up and win a Division I state title.

Worst

        1. The Bengals. A bye week? Just when they were on a roll?

        2. The PGA. We're not falling for this Tour Championship thing as a season-ender. We know there will be golf tournaments every weekend. Try an offseason, men.

        3. The NBA. These guys should give a thought or two to that contraction thing. Maybe then Felton Spencer wouldn't be starting.

        4. NFL parity. Is it really a good thing that the Bears-Browns game is the highlight of the week?

        5. Fox sports analyst Tim McCarver. Put a sock in it!
