The Goods
Not hankering to wait in line to see Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone on opening day Nov. 16? Advance tickets are on sale through Showcase Cinemas' Web site, www.showcasecinemas.com, or at automated ticket booth kiosks in most of the chain's theaters. Web sales carry a $1 per ticket service charge. The new 20-screen AMC multiplex at Newport on the Levee also will sell advance Harry tickets through www.moviewatcher.com, but as of press time, could not say what day sales would begin.
What's in stores today
Flags, flags and more flags take center stage in Glory, a 2002 calendar (Workman Publishing, $10.95) made up entirely of flag photos taken between Sept. 11 and Sept. 22. Like one flying over the Brooklyn Bridge with Manhattan in the background. Or the one at Ground Zero. Not to mention the massive one hanging from the Pentagon. The beauty of this calendar is all proceeds will go to the New York Times 9/11 Neediest Fund and the American Red Cross. It's available in bookstores and anywhere else calendars are sold.
