UC women earn NCAA soccer berth

MILWAUKEE Senior Ann Thomas (Northwest) scored with 11 minutes remaining to lift the Cincinnati Bearcats (19-3) past Marquette 1-0 in the Conference USA women's soccer final Saturday and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Junior Chris Reis (Elder) finished 15th to lead the UC men's cross country team to a 10th-place finish in the regionals at Indiana State. Reis qualified for the NCAA's.
NKU VOLLEYBALL: The Norse (27-4) defeated Southern Indiana 30-17, 30-26, 30-24 Saturday to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and secure a berth in NCAA Division II Tournament.
MIAMI: The second-seeded RedHawks (13-6-1) will play in their third consecutive Mid-American Conference women's soccer championship game at noon today against Central Michigan, which defeated Ohio 2-1 Friday in four overtimes in the semifinals. Miami defeated third-seeded Eastern Michigan 4-1 in the other semifinal.
Andrea Kremer qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the second consecutive year by finishing seventh at the regionals in Greenville, S.C. The MU women finished 11th.
Brian Godsey (Lakota East) and Steve Padgett (LaSalle) finished 25th and 37th, respectively in the men's regional at Terre Haute, Ind. The MU men finished ninth.
Miami's 15th-ranked hockey team rebounded from a 9-4 thrashing Friday at Bowling Green to defeat the Falcons 5-2 Saturday in the CCHA.
The RedHawks improved to 6-3-1, 4-1-1 CCHA. BG fell to 2-6-2, 2-5-1 CCHA.
