LOS ANGELES — Elton Brand scored 20 points and had eight rebounds, and reserve Quentin Richardson added 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the New York Knicks 99-86 Sunday.

The Knicks, falling to 0-6 on the road, stayed close most of the game but never led after holding a 58-56 edge with 5:17 left in the third quarter.

Latrell Sprewell had 22 points and Allan Houston 19 for New York. Kurt Thomas added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Knicks' road losses this season extended their losing streak over two seasons to 10 straight. Their last win away from home was a 79-78 victory over the Lakers at Staples Center last April 1.

       Raptors 87, Suns 81

PHOENIX — Vince Carter scored 31 points, and Alvin Williams broke an eight-minute scoring drought with an 18-foot jumper that helped Toronto hold off Phoenix.

The Raptors, who won their third straight road game, went 8:10 without a point in the fourth quarter, but had enough of a cushion to ride out the Suns' attempts to rally.

Phoenix's Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway missed 3-point attempts in the final 15 seconds, and Morris Peterson sealed the victory with two free throws with 2.8 seconds left.

Peterson finished with 16 points, Williams had 12 and Hakeem Olajuwon had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Shawn Marion scored 24 points for the Suns, and Marbury had 19.

       Lakers 93, Kings 85

LOS ANGELES — Kobe Bryant scored eight of his 29 points in the final 1:36, and Shaquille O'Neal had 28 points and 15 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied to beat Sacramento.

Rick Fox scored 14 of his 16 points in the second half and also had nine rebounds and seven assists as the Lakers (8-1) bounced back from their only loss of the season — a 95-83 setback at Phoenix on Friday night.

The Lakers have won 16 of their last 17 regular-season games dating to last season, and 31 of 33 including the playoffs.

Peja Stojakovic led the Kings with 25 points, and Vlade Divac had 15 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists.
