Congrats
Ursuline graduate gets master's
Lisa Gardner has graduated cum laude with a master's degree in physical therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee.
The Ursuline Academy graduate is the daughter of Claire and Thomas Gardner of West Chester Township.
On dean's list
Economics major Brent Ericksen was named to the spring semester dean's list at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
The Anderson High School graduate is the son of Susan and Mark Ericksen of Anderson Township.
Band wins trophy
The Milford High School Marching Band captured the reserve grand champion trophy at the Northern Kentucky Marching Band Festival at Campbell County Middle School.
It was also one of two bands to receive a distinguished ratings in finals competition.
The band won awards in the large-band class for best guard, best music, best visual and overall effect.
The band won first place, Class AAAA, with a distinguished rating.
ROTC graduates
The following have graduated from the Army Re serve Officer Training Corps advanced camp at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.:
Stephen Thurnau, a graduate of Turpin High School attending Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., and son of Janet and Robert Thurnau of Anderson Township; Crystalyn Starks, a graduate of Northwest High School attending Oklahoma Christian University, Oklahoma City, and daughter of Virginia and John Starks of Pleasant Run; James Dwertman, a graduate of St. Bernard-Elmwood Place High School attending Xavier University, and son of Cathy and James Dwertman of St. Bernard; and Aaron Combs, a graduate of Glen Este High School attending Marion Military Institute in Alabama and son of Nora and Duane Combs of Cherry Grove.
Fire training
Paul Larkins and Matthew Douglas Ventre have completed the state of Ohio basic firefighter training program for full-time firefighters at the Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg.
They are members of the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department.
