Best and worst of week in sports

The Enquirer sports department's look at who rated — good and bad — this week in sports:

Best

        1. Detroit Lions: With parity, it's nearly impossible to run the table in the NFL these days. But the Lions, at 0-10, are making a strong run at 0-16.

        2. Ball State: The little MAC school beat Kansas and UCLA on back-to-back days, then made a respectable showing against No.1 Duke.

        3. Lennox Lewis: Champion again. You have to like an articulate boxer. Bring on Tyson.

        4. The Thanksgiving Day Race: The race drew a record 9,000 this year. The Bengals get an assist here for letting the race use Paul Brown Stadium.

        5. Bengals-Browns: The rivalry means something, and the Bengals have a chance to salvage this season with a win. Which means they'll probably lose.

Worst

        1. Lloyd Price: You have a one-way ticket to the Dumbest Criminals Hall of Fame. Price was the highest-rated recruit Xavier ever signed. He was a bust as a player. Looks like the same can be said of him as a human being.

        2. Dick LeBeau: Ever notice how Dick answers every question with a question? Here's one to pose to yourself this week, Coach: Did I completely lose my mind when I decided that field position was better than a field goal last week?

        3. Dick Vitale: It's not even December yet, and we've heard enough of the mouth that roars.

        4. The NFL: The retro-uniforms on Thanksgiving Day are a nice touch. But we don't think players had their names on their backs in 1938.

        5. OHSAA: The Ohio High School Athletic Association needs to get a map so the wizards there will realize that Cincinnati's in the state. St.X should have played at Nippert Stadium Saturday. The Bombers are the higher-rated team. Dublin Coffman should have been given no choice. The OHSAA commissioner didn't even know St. X-Elder sold out Nippert until a reporter told him.
