Norse overcomes 20-point lead
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. Craig Sanders scored 22 points Saturday as Northern Kentucky University rallied from a 20-point deficit to defeat Lewis 88-73 at Neil Carey Arena.
It was the 250th win of NKU coach Ken Shields' career. He is 250-141 in 14 seasons with the Norse.
Bobby St-Preux added 17 points for NKU (4-0, 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Lewis built a 42-22 lead in the first half, but the Norse made 69.6 percent of their shots from the field in the second half on their way to the victory.
That was the craziest game I have ever been involved with, and that is the best comeback any team of mine has ever made, Shields said.
Sanders, a graduate of McNicholas High School, scored 16 points in the second half to lead the comeback. Sanders has scored in double figures in 24 consecu tive games, dating to last season.
Brenden Stowers (Simon Kenton) scored 16 points for NKU, and Carl Mitchell had 14 points and two blocked shots.
The Norse are ranked No.25 in the NCAA Division II poll.
NKU will play at Wisconsin-Parkside at 8:45p.m. Monday.
