Congrats
Georgetown U. honors graduate
Alexander Bondoc graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society.
The son of Angelita and Antonio Bondoc of Mount Airy is attending the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor.
Eagle Scout Award
H. Lee Woodrum III of Troop 990 achieved the highest ranking of the Boy Scouts of America: the Eagle Scout Award. As his community service project, he recruited fellow scouts and family members to assist in clearing and mulching a nature trail and amphitheater for Union Elementary School in West Chester Township.
He is the son of Patty Jean and H. Lee Woodrum Jr. of West Chester Township.
Marine promotion
Christopher Strub has been promoted to corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. A chemistry major at Ohio State University, Cpl.
He recently served on the Fleet Anti-Terrorist Security Team in Cuba. The Xavier High School graduate is the son of Jill and Robert Strub of Finneytown.
ROTC promotion
Ben Bays was promoted to the top leadership ranks of the Air Force Junior ROTC detachment Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Va.
The junior was awarded the rank of cadet master sergeant and the position of special operations non-commissioned officer in charge.
Ben is the son of Rebecca and Brad Bays, Finneytown.
Exam winners
Cincinnati Country Day School students won the three top spots in the National Spanish Exam.
Sophomore April Yee of Sharonville compiled a perfect score and finished first in the nation at the Spanish II Level.
Freshmen Brian Rue of Loveland and Katie French of Hamilton placed second and third, respectively, at the Spanish I Level.
On dean's list
Emily Koterba, an English major at the University of Dayton, was named to the College of Arts and Sciences spring dean's list.
The daughter of Sue and Dan Koterba of Kenwood is a graduate of Mount Notre Dame High School.
