Inaction could kill apartment plans
The Cincinnati Enquirer
FLORENCE Boone County Fiscal Court this week took no action on a developer's controversial proposal to build 540 apartments near the exclusive Triple Crown subdivision.
The Planning and Zoning Commission already has voted against a zoning change that would pave the way for the development. If the court does not act at its next meeting, the planning commission's recommendation would become final on Jan. 1, killing the project.
Edward Rose Properties Inc. of Michigan wants to build the units, which would rent from $650 to $1,000 a month, on 45 acres along Interstate 75 just south of the Richwood Road exit. The site is across Richwood Road from Triple Crown and next to the Steeplechase development of homes, condominiums and apartments.
Residents have complained that the apartments would cause traffic problems and decrease property values in the surrounding areas.
Triple Crown is a country-club community set on a golf course with home prices in the $280,000s to $330,000s.
