Charlett Hughes, 41, describes her style as the three Cs classic, classy and colorful.
Though the business manager's approach to shopping is rooted in practicality looking for things I like that I can get a lot of wear from her selections make her "the best-dressed individual (including all the doctors, nurses and support staff) in pediatric rehabilitation at Children's Hospital Medical Center, according to her nominator, Dr. Jilda Vargus-Adams.
Signature look: Timeless, classic, but not too trendy.
You can be found shopping: I love Kenwood Towne Centre, the Ann Taylor and Parisian shoes ... and Off 5th, the new Saks outlet at Forest Fair (Mall). I look to see if there's a red line going through the original price.
You wouldn't be caught dead in: A fur coat. And other than working out, I never wear gym shoes.
You can never have enough: Shoes. I am at the low end right now. I'd guesstimate about 30 pairs. I love slingbacks. I have little legs and they make them look bigger. It's a very feminine look.
Earliest fashion memory: When I could afford my own clothes, the first thing I purchased was an Ellen Tracy long-sleeved, knee-length straight dress with a full-length coat-jacket from McAlpins.
Favorite designers: Ellen Tracy, Ann Taylor, Anne Klein, Dana Buchman.
Your fashion pet peeve: Stirrup pants and stirrup pants with heels. Why would anybody do that? It's the most uncool thing.
If you had big bucks, you'd buy: More Ellen Tracy. I can only afford them if there are two or three red lines through the price.
Best bargain: An Ellen Tracy knee-length purple suit coat (but I use it as a regular coat) for $100, marked down from $450 at Elder-Beerman.
