Convict caught after 9-day search

By Tom O'Neill
The Cincinnati Enquirer

A drug convict who walked away from a Warren County prison work camp was captured Sunday morning in a Clermont County home. Frank Kruse, 31, of Deerfield Township, had been a fugitive for nine days. He was returned to the Lebanon Correctional Institute.

Mr. Kruse is serving a three-year sentence for operating a methamphetamine lab.He has been in prison since September, and was working at a dairy barn on prison property along Ohio 63 when he walked away. He was considered a minimum-security inmate.

The Lebanon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol had received numerous tips throughout the week that Mr. Kruse was sighted in the Loveland area, but an informant's call early Sunday morning led police to a home in the 7100 block of Shiloh Road in Goshen Township, Clermont County. There at 6:30 a.m., police from several agencies found Mr. Kruse awake, Sgt. Ken Ward of the Lebanon post said. He was taken into custody without incident.
