Congrats

Summit students honored for art

Two Summit Country Day Upper School students were honored for their artwork at the Ohio High School Art Exhibition in Columbus.

Senior Ryan Taylor of New Richmond, and junior Alexandra Perez of Mount Lookout designed and created winning ceramic teapots and cups as solutions to a studio challenge to create a functional teapot form and matching cup, inspired by the work of a famous artist.

Basic training grads
Brothers Aaron and Dennis Davis Jr. have graduated basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

They are 2001 graduates of Hughes High School for Teaching and Technology, and sons of Marianne Davis of Roselawn.

Scholarship winner

Jennifer Ferrell, of Hamilton, was the recipient of an American Foundation for the Blind Scholarship for students in higher education who are blind or visually impaired.

Ms. Ferrell attends the University of Akron, Ohio.

AP honors

The College Board recognizes exceptional achievement on the college-level advanced-placement examinations. Only about 13 percent of the more than 840,000 students who took the examinations were named AP Scholars.

The exams, which high school students take in May after completing challenging college-level courses, are graded on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the highest. Most of the nation's colleges and universities award credit, advanced placement, or both for grades of 3 or higher.

The following students from Finneytown High School qualified as AP Scholars with Distinction by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more exams: Jason Gwinn and Abigail King.

Catherine Hair, Sarah Hayes, Kelly Markle and Catherine Wood qualified as AP Scholars with Honor by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

Sarah Baker, Mary Crosset, Erik Elmendorf, Katie Gibson, Amy Miekley and Brice Tucker qualified as AP Scholars by completing 3 or more exams with grades of 3 or higher.

Congrats runs daily. Call: 755-4165. Fax: 755-4150. Mail: Congrats, The Cincinnati Enquirer, 7700 Service Center Drive, West Chester, OH 45069.
