GREEN TOWNSHIP Township trustees have named Kevin T. Celarek, 52, to the position of Green Township administrator.
The community is in very good shape and has a bright future, Mr. Celarek said.
The new administrator has 24 years of public-service experience, including two years with the Cincinnati Park Board and eight years with Clean Cincinnati Inc. For the last six years, he has been the city administrator for Crestview Hills, population 3,000.
Everything here is stable and I could move on with that confidence, he said.
Green Township, with its population of about 55,000 and large land area, will be an exciting challenge, he said.
The position opened in July when Tom Maley retired.
About 40 people applied, said Township Attorney Frank Hyle, who conducted the initial screenings. Trustees then interviewed five candidates for the position, which pays $79,800 annually, with full benefits.
He was strong on paper and he was strong in the interview, and we felt this was the best way to go, township Trustee Tony Upton said.
Mr. Celarek, of Mount Lookout, begins Jan 1.
