Sentinels president voted to second term

Cincinnati Police Spec. Scotty Johnson has been re-elected to a second, two-year term as president of the Sentinel Police Association, the group announced Thursday.
Spec. Johnson, a 15-year-veteran of the Cincinnati Police Division, said Thursday he will continue to represent the 252 members of the association as well be an advocate for better police-community relations in Cincinnati.
His mission as president includes providing support to officers who complain about disparity on issues of discipline of African-American officers compared to their white counterparts,
The Sentinel Police Association represents African-American officers in the 1,000-member police division.
Assigned to District 1 as a plainclothes investigator on the robbery squad, Spec. Johnson was visible in the neighborhoods this spring during and after the riots as he sought to help restore calm.
Spec. Johnson, a 1984 graduate of Bowling Green State University where he received a bachelor's degree in criminal law, is a member of the division's SWAT team and serves as a crisis negotiator. He previously worked as neighborhood officer and school resource officer in Cincinnati Public Schools.
He is a member of the Mayor's Roundtable Committee on Police-Community Relations.
