Cincinnati city government is restructured
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Tim Riordan, Cincinnati's acting city manager, carried out changes to the structure of city government Friday by naming three department directors.
Peg Moertl, the former director of the Department of Neighborhood Services, now becomes director of the combined Department of Neighborhood Development and Housing.
Police Chief Tom Streicher takes the additional title of director of the Police Department. Formerly, the department was a division of the Safety Department, which City Council has abolished.
Similarly, Fire Chief Robert Wright will also become director of the Fire Department.
All three now report directly to the city manager. The changes were approved by City Council as part of a budget package Wednesday.
