The Cincinnati Enquirer
DEERFIELD TWP. Want to stay current on township issues, but can't make it to meetings? Stay tuned.
Township trustee meetings are now being broadcast on Intercommunity Cable Regulatory Commission cable access stations. The first meeting was broadcast on Dec. 18.
We are proud to provide this service to our community, said Trustees President Larry Backus. This will be an invaluable option for residents who cannot attend meetings but wish to be informed about township issues.
Time Warner Cable will also broadcast meetings of the Board of Zoning Appeals, Zoning Commission and work sessions.
Meetings can be viewed on Warner Cable channel 18 at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; 8 p.m. on Thursdays; and 3 p.m. on Sundays.
It cost $4,124 to broadcast the meetings, but Deerfield only has to pay half.
ICRC serves 32 communities in Greater Cincinnati.
Phyllis Hamilton said she cannot attend meetings because she works at night. She said broadcasting meetings will result in a more informed public.
I think it will encourage more people to go to the meetings once they seem them televised, she said.
Other communities in Warren and Butler counties that air meetings include Mason, Lebanon, Loveland, Franklin, Fairfield, Middletown and Hamilton and West Chester Township.
