Green Twp. zoning may change

GREEN TOWNSHIP About 7 acres along the Harrison Avenue Corridor is being looked at for potential retail development, planning officials say.
There are no plans by anybody to submit a zone change application, but that doesn't mean that they won't do it tomorrow, township Development Director Adam Goetzman.
Recent steps might foreshadow an application to rezone the land 12 parcels in the 5901-5963 blocks northwest of Filview Circle from residential to general retail.
This month, the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission voted to amend the land-use plan for these parcels from residential to general retail, with the condition of a stream buffer. The township's land-use planning committee and township trustees also recommend the amendment.
A land-use amendment can sometimes be viewed as a precursor to a zone change request, Mr. Goetzman said.
The site, however, does have complications. The parcels are connected to properties that may have environmental issues. Andsome township residents have expressed concerns over encroachment of commercial development in residential zones.
Zone change requests would originate with the county's planning commission.
