Funeral homes merging

        BLUE ASH — Two well-known funeral home companies are merging and have begun construction of a new funeral home at 10211 Plainfield Road, on the grounds of Rest Haven Memorial Park.

        Nurre Brothers and Mihovk-Rosenacker have formed a partnership, Nurre-Mihovk-Rosenacker. The new company will continue to operate the former Mihovk facility at 5527 Cheviot Road as well as Nurre funeral homes at 345 W. McMillan St. in Clifton Heights and 6050 Montgomery Road in Pleasant Ridge. A third Nurre facility, at 5907 Cheviot Road in White Oak, will be merged into the Mihovk-Rosenacker funeral home on Cheviot Road.

        The company plans to open its new 23,000-square-foot home in the fall of 2002. It will contain a formal chapel, a large Celebration of Life room where post-funeral events can be held, and a special Remembrance Shop that will sell flowers, cards and gifts. Information: 385-0511.

Teen consignment store

        BEVIS — A new Plato's Closet is accepting casual teen clothing consignments before opening its doors for business.

        The store, near Wal-Mart in Colerain Plaza, is currently open noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday for those who want to sell apparel, shoes, used CDs and movies. All clothing must be in good condition, clean and in current style.

        This is the fourth Plato's Closet teen consignment store in the Tristate. Others are in Anderson Township, West Chester and Florence. Information: 741-7892.

Kids clothes a specialty

        ALEXANDRIA — A new consignment store provides a budget-friendly source of children's clothing and allows families to recycle apparel that their children have outgrown.

        Serendipity Consignment Shop, at 22 E. Main St., opened Dec. 1. It is owned and operated by a mother-and-daughters team, Bonnie Winters, Andrea Keating and Dana Bird. In addition to children's clothing and accessories, the business offers home decor and furniture.

        Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Information: (859) 694-3200.

Architectural firm moves

        After 14 years at 401 E. Court St., GBBN Architects has moved its offices to 332 E. Eighth St. Its telephone number remains the same.

        The full-service architectural firm employs about 100 and specializes in institutional, health-care and commercial design projects. It also provides a variety of tracking systems to aid in facilities management. Clients include The Great American Ballpark, Newport on the Levee, Newport Aquarium, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Aronoff Center for the Arts and Hamilton County.

New Husman's chip

        Cincinnatians have a new snack option, thanks to Husman Snack Foods Co. The company has just introduced Sweet 'N' Sassy BBQ Flavored potato chips.

        “The Sweet 'N' Sassy BBQ Flavored chip is our response to consumers telling us they like their chips with a little zing,” said Larry Ruschman, director of sales for the snack food maker. “While we continue to make and distribute our traditional chips, tastes have evolved — and we've added products to meet the broader demands of today's shopper.”

        Husman's is at 1621 Moore St., Over-the-Rhine.

        Its potato chips are available throughout the Tristate in grocery and convenience stores as well as restaurants. Information: 621-5614.
