Listings of stocks, mutual funds to expand

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Want more information to learn how your stock portfolio performed in 2001? Make sure you read Tuesday's Enquirer Business section, which will feature expanded listings of stocks and mutual funds.

The more comprehensive listings, which regularly appear Saturdays, will show investment returns for 2001 in addition to Monday's closing prices.

Also, Standard & Poor's will no longer report values for four indexes — financial, transportation, utilities and industrial — starting Wednesday. The indexes, which appear in Market Watch on the New York Stock Exchange page, will be replaced by:

        • AMEX Major Market Index (XMI).

        • Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX).

        • Philadelphia Bank Index (BKX).

        • Philadelphia Exchange-based Oil Service Index (ticker OSX).

        • Philadelphia Gold & Silver Index (XAU).

The S&P 500 Index and S&P Midcap 400 Index will continue.

Lastly, with 12 nations of the European Union abandoning individual currencies in favor of the Euro on Tuesday, we will publish the full list of foreign currencies on a daily basis. We now publish eight currencies during the week and a full list Saturdays.

We hope these changes help you in your investing decisions. If you have a comment, please contact assistant business editor Bill Ferguson at bferguson@enquirer.com or by fax at 564-6991.
