Promotions & new on the job

        • Edward S. Heenan has been named senior vice president, corporate financial planning, at Western & Southern Financial Group. Mr. Heenan is responsible for planning and spearheading major corporate finance initiatives. He has served as vice president and controller of Western & Southern Life Insurance Co. since 1987. Prior to that he was senior vice president and chief financial officer of Eagle Savings.

        • The following have been named vice presidents at Firstar Bank: David Braunstein, Sandra McGraw, Randolph P. Clark, Brian Gallagher, and Phil Brumbaugh. Named assistant vice presidents are: Kathryn Hall, Jason Herman, Shamindra Bhattachrya and Michael Margolis.

        • Ryan L. Willis has joined the Cincinnati office of Taft, Stettinius & Hollister LLP as an associate in the business and finance department and member of the Intellectual Property and Technology Commercialization Practice Group. Mr. Willis received his undergraduate degree from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind., and his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law. He had previously worked as a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Washington.

        • Steve Trimble, financial planner with Hilliard Lyons, has been appointed to the executive committee at American Skandia.

        • Karl Barton has joined the northeast office of Huff Realty as sales associate.

        • Jon Perry, David Worthington and Mary Walker have been appointed to the board of directors at One Hope Christian Counseling Associates, which provides affordable professional mental health care.

        • Tom Myers has been named senior vice president at Burke Customer Satisfaction Association (CSA), client services, Greg Van Scoy to senior account executive, and Yvette Wikstrom, senior account executive and senior consultant.

        • Jodi Rinehart has joined Xavier University as marketing manager for marketing and public relations, and Gillian Allen has become junior designer for marketing and public relations.

        • Michael Albers has joined BHDP Architecture as an intern architect for the educational team.

        • James J. Hartings, chairman of the World Affairs Coun cil of Greater Cincinnati, has resigned from that position, having completed the mission requested of him. Mr. Hartings will continue as a trustee of the council and in committee roles.

        • Carolyn W. Karageorges has been named a manager in the audit practice at Andersen. Ms. Karageorges joined the company in 1996 after graduating from the University of Cincinnati. She is involved in the Catholic Inner City Schools program and Junior Achievement and is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Cincinnati Women's Society of Certified Public Accountants.

        • Todd Kloots has joined CoActive Marketing Group as Web site developer in the division. Mr. Kloots worked for iWidgets Inc. as an interaction developer/designer. He graduated from Miami University in English literature and a minor in management information systems.

        • Fredric T. Rekstis has joined Keating, Ritchie & Swick as an associate in the full-service suburban law firm.

        • Scott C. Rasp has joined Sibcy Cline Realtors as residential real estate sales associate, northwest office; and Cheryl Jones has rejoined the northeast office as specialized residential sales associate.

        • Jack Graham has joined Emerald Health Network as regional sales director for central and southern Ohio.

        • Curtis E. Kissinger has become a partner at Rendigs, Fry, Kiely & Dennis LLP, and Megan Kleinfelder Roach has become an associate of the firm.

        • Stacey Horton has joined Sigma Research Management Group Ltd. as senior analyst and online services coordinator.

        • The following lawyers have been named members of Frost Brown Todd LLC, Cincinnati office: Lori A. Landrum, Bernard L. McKay and Ann G. Robinson; and Thomas B. Allen, Middletown office.

        • John C. Sieve has been named vice president at Fifth Third Bank. Mr. Sieve joined Fifth Third in March 1995 and serves as vice president and computer telephone manager. He is responsible for the support and development of phone systems and applications. He was voice communications manager. He has a bachelor's in math from Xavier Uni versity.

        • Jeff Jones has joined Powers Agency as vice president of digital media for ePowers, its e-business subsidiary.

        • Mark Halpin has joined Iacono Productions as scenic designer. Mr. Halpin has been working in the design field for 12 years. He will develop set concepts for business theater clients. He has worked for Paramount Parks and Jack Rouse Associates. He was a freelance contractor specializing in theatrical and cruise ship design. He has a master of fine arts degree in theater design from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, and a bachelor of fine arts degree in theater from Northern Kentucky University.

        • Brian Colbert has joined Sunesis Construction Co. as project manager.

        • Chris Hertzel has joined Integrity Building Group as project manager.

Awards & honors

        • Lisa Sanger and Donna Eby, owners of Sanger & Eby Design in the Betts-Longworth Historic District, received the 2001 Pinnacle Award honoring the fastest-growing Greater Cincinnati businesses. Sanger & Eby Design was recognized as one of five fastest-growing women-owned businesses locally. It was the only recipient in this category to receive this honor in both 2000 and 2001.

        • Tru Wall Concrete Inc. received the annual Evendale Business Association Beautification Award for the best landscaping and grounds maintenance of companies.

Mergers and acquisitions

        • Clark, Schaefer, Hackett & Co. and Robert F. Uhrig Co. have merged. The new firm will operate under the Clark, Schaefer, Hackett & Co. name and will maintain a downtown Cincinnati office at 105 E. Fourth St.

        • Hunkar Laboratories Inc. is acquiring EVItrak Technologies Inc. of Norwalk, Ohio. EVItrak operations are being moved to Hunkar Laboratories' corporate offices in Cincinnati. A sales office will be maintained in Norwalk.
