Bones likely from flooded graveyard
FAIRFIELD A dozen human bones discovered along the Great Miami River last week were likely washed there from a flooded family graveyard in Fairfield, Butler County Coroner Dr. Richard P. Burkhardt said Monday.
Dr. Elizabeth Murray, a forensic anthropologist, examined the remains at Dr. Burkhardt's request. She saw signs that they may have belonged to a black female with respiratory infections, Dr. Burkhardt said.
Boys playing near the river's edge on Dec. 25 discovered the bones.
Although foul play is unlikely, the investigation is continuing, Dr. Burhhardt said.
