March will honor Martin Luther King Jr.
A march to honor the lifeof the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held Jan. 21.
The 27th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial March and Commemorative Program will feature speakers such as Edwin Rigaud, president of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and Steve Reece, a local businessman and activist.
The event will begin with prayers and remarks on Fountain Square at 11:15 a.m. Marchers will then proceed to Music Hall via Fifth, Vine and Elm streets.
At noon, inside the ballroom of Music Hall, the program, His Light Still Shines: A Message for Difficult Times'' will begin with speeches from Mr. Rigaud and Mr. Reece.

Avondale man shot at his residence
Frederick Thomas, 25, of Avondale, was in critical condition Mondayat University Hospi tal after suffering a gunshot wound to his upper left chest Sunday.
He was shot about 5:50 p.m. in the 500 block of Prospect Place in Avondale. Mr. Thomas was found on the front porch of a residence.
The gunman, described as in his 20s, carried a silver-colored handgun and wore a black ski mask and all-black clothing. He fled the scene in a blue convertible.

Driver critical after I-75 crash
FORT MITCHELL A 55-year-old Covington man was critically injured Monday in three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75.
Michael Breaden was injured when his 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck struck two cars on northbound I-75 at Buttermilk Pike, struck the right guardrail, traveledacross all three lanes of the highway and struck the left median wall, police said.
The 3:50 p.m. crash closed northbound I-75 for an hour. Mr. Breaden, who was pulled from the truck by bystanders, was being treated at University Hospital in Cincinnati Monday night.
The drivers of the two vehicles struck by the pickup truck were not injured, police said.
Police recover cash after break-in
WEST CHESTER TWP. Police recovered nearly $8,000 in cash and charged three suspects in connection with a break-in and theft at the Kwik and Kold drive-through at 7950 Cincinnati-Dayton Road Monday.
Police arrested James Barnett, 20, of West Chester Township and a 16-year-old Liberty Township boy. They were charged with grand theft and breaking and entering. Matthew Heiser, 18, of Liberty Township, was cited for complicity to breaking and entering, then was released.
Awindow was broken at the drive-through, causing an alarm to sound around 1 a.m. The suspects split up, but police tracked them down; hours later, an officer found a coat stuffed with cash hanging in a wooded area, said Sgt. Matt Brillhart.
