Prather back in winner's circle
Apprentice Kris Prather, 23, Turfway Park's record-breaking jockey who had been sidelined since September, made a victorious return to the races Tuesday at Turfway.
She rode Raymur City to victory in the first race of the new year and new meet for trainer Greg Foley and owner Lloyd Madison.
I'm glad to be back to doing what I love, Prather said.
Last year Prather became the first rider to win six races on one card (Feb.11) at Turfway Park and set a track single-meet record with 109 victories during the winter-spring meeting, eclipsing the former record of 85 set by Tony D'Amico.
Prather was leading the nation in wins and win percentage until injuries to both knees March 17 forced her off the track. She returned in June, but a shoulder injury shelved her again in September.
