Ducks center named to AHL All-Star Classic
Cincinnati Mighty Ducks center Andy McDonald has been selected by the coaches to the Canadian team for the 2002 AHL All-Star Classic Feb.13 and 14 in St.John's, Newfoundland.
Skills competition is 7p.m. Feb.13. The game is 7p.m. Feb.14 on ESPN2.
McDonald, 24, is on recall to NHL Anaheim. In 21 games with Cincinnati this season, McDonald has seven goals and 25 assists for a club-leading 32 points.
He has played 17 games with Anaheim (3-8=11).
Defenseman Jesse Wallin, recovering from abdominal surgery, was assigned to Cincinnati by NHL Detroit for conditioning purposes. Wallin, a first-round pick by Detroit in 1996, has spent the season on injured reserve list. In 76 games with Cincinnati last season, the 6-foot-2, 201-pounder had two goals and 15 assists for 17 points with 50 penalty minutes.
Wallin is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Ducks play the Cleveland Barons at 7:35 p.m. in Cincinnati Gardens.
