Miami 100, Central Michigan 94


RedHawks survive in double OT

        MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Alex Shorts scored 22 points and made six of eight free throws in the second overtime to lead Miami University to a 100-94 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday.

        David Webber scored 44 points for the Chippewas (3-7, 0-2 Mid-American Conference) and hit a layup with three seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime tied at 68.

        The RedHawks (4-9, 1-1) led throughout the first overtime until Central Michigan tied it at 81 on a 3-pointer by Whitney Robinson with eight seconds to go.

        Miami shot 75 percent in the two extra periods.

        Juby Johnson and Doug Davis both scored 18 points, and Danny Horace had 11 points and 14 for Miami. RedHawks coach Charlie Coles 3improved to 7-0 against his former team.

        Miami put up 100 points one week after making only eight of 60 shots from the field in a 60-23 loss at Dayton.
