Sanders sets record in NKU victory
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. Craig Sanders scored 30 points and became Northern Kentucky University's career leader in 3-pointers as the Norse defeated Southern Illinois-Edwardville, 90-62 Saturday at the Vadalabene Center.
Sanders (McNicholas High School) made eight 3-pointers Saturday and has 304 in his college career. He surpassed the mark of Paul Cluxton, who made 303 career 3-pointers from 1993-97.
Paul Cluxton was one of the greatest shooters who ever played college basketball, and Craig Sanders has established himself as one of the best, too, NKU coach Ken Shields said. It's a great accomplishment for Craig.
Bobby St-Preux added 17 points and nine rebounds for NKU, which improved to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse built a 44-29 halftime lead against SIUE (6-8, 2-6) and cruised in the second half.
Sanders also has scored in double figures in 33 consecutive games. The NKU record is 39, set by Brady Jackson.
