Deputy hit by car as robber flees
A Hamilton County Sheriff's deputy was hit by a fleeing robber's car early Sunday at the Thornton Gas Station in Green Township.
Deputy Paul Naber, who was driving home, responded to a hold-up alarm at the station but was struck by the robber's car as he sped away eastbound on Glenway Avenue about 6:50 a.m.
He was taken to Mercy-Franciscan Western Hills Hospital, treated and released.
Police continue to search for the hit-and-run driver.
Moments earlier, the robberdemanded the gas-station clerk open the safe. When the clerk told him she couldn't open it, he forced her to open the cash register. He snatched that money, plus beer and cigarettes.
He then threatened to take the clerk with him, but fled without her or the beer when he saw Deputy Naber approaching on foot. He ran to a neighboring business where a female accomplice waited in an older model, white Cutlass or Monte Carlo with a blue top and Ohio license plates, authorities said.
The robber is described as white, 18 to 20 years old and 5-foot-7, with a slender build. He wore a black cap and scarf, a red jacket and blue jeans.
