Effect of cuts on Ohio plants

        More than 2,000 jobs at seven Ford Motor Co. plants will be affected by a restructuring plan, with about half the cuts announced Friday. Many of the jobs will be phased out through layoffs and retirements by the end of 2003. Ford said it has a total of 16,600 employees in Ohio.

        A breakdown of how Ford plants in Ohio will be affected:

       Allen County:
        • Engine plant in Lima. 1,645 hourly and 300 salaried workers. No job losses.

       Cuyahoga County:
        • Aluminum Casting Plant in Brook Park. 100 hourly and 25 salaried workers. To be closed by end of 2003. The workers are expected to be transferred.

        • Casting Plant in Brook Park. 2,200 hourly and 200 salaried workers. No job losses.

        • Engine Plant No. 1. in Brook Park. 300 hourly and 50 salaried workers. Undergoing $350 million retooling. Expected to be at full production by end of 2003 with a total of 650 jobs.

        • Engine Plant No.2. in Brook Park. 1,610 hourly and 200 salaried workers. No job losses.

        • Walton Hills Stamping Plant in Walton Hills. 1,200 hourly and 130 salaried workers. About 600 hourly and 50 salaried positions to be eliminated.

        Hamilton County:
        • Transmission plant in Sharonville near Cincinnati. 2,200 hourly and 300 salaried workers. 250 hourly jobs to be phased out sometime this year.

       Lorain County:
        • Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake. 2,080 hourly and 200 salaried workers. The 880 hourly workers on the Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager line are to be laid off, along with 90 salaried employees.

        • Lorain Assembly Plant in Lorain. 1,600 hourly and 125 salaried workers. A total of 190 jobs will be phased out.

       Lucas County:
        • Stamping plant in Maumee. 730 hourly and 85 salaried workers. No job losses.
