HAMILTON TOWNSHIP The Little Miami Board of Education tonight could begin the steps to place a renewal operating levy on the May ballot.
The board will meet at 7. p.m. at the high school library.
Little Miami Treasurer Barb Swisher said there are two components to the proposed levy. The first is to renew the $930,000, 6.9-mill operating levy that was passed in 1992 and renewed in 1997. The second portion of the levy would provide an additional $1,770,000.
The owner of a $100,000 home pays about $73 for the current levy. Under the proposal, the homeowner would pay an additional $138.
The board would formally act on the resolution in February.
Fast-growing Hamilton Township reached 9,630 in the 2000 census and the school district covers 98 square miles. There are 2,798 students in the district's schools.
