A 52-year-old Columbus man who told authorities he robbed banks to support his heroin habit was sentenced Wednesday to 21 years in prison.
Robert Eugene Conway pleaded guilty Wednesday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court to six bank robberies committed in Greater Cincinnati in April and May..
He admitted heists at several bank branches, including Firstar Bank, Provident Bank, Bank One, PNC Bank and Columbia Savings and Loan.
Mr. Conway is already serving a 15-year federal sentence for other bank robberies. The federal sentence was for banks he robbed during the same time period in Newport and Covington.
His sentence will be served at the same time as the federal sentence, officials said.
