Texas Tech avenges loss to Oklahoma
Bob Knight's Red Raiders are 15-3
The Associated Press
LUBBOCK, Texas Texas Tech doesn't look much like last season's team that finished 9-19 overall and tied for last in the Big 12 with a 3-13 mark.
Andre Emmett had 26 points and 10 rebounds as the Red Raiders beat No.6 Oklahoma 92-79 Saturday, the second time in eight days the Red Raiders beat a Top Ten team.
The Red Raiders (15-3, 4-2 Big 12) went on a 10-4 run early in the second half to take a 50-41 lead. The Red Raiders went on to lead by as many as 16 points.
I thought our kids did a really good job coming back off of having been beaten as badly up there as we were, Texas Tech coach Bob Knight said, referring to the 98-72 loss at Oklahoma on Jan.12. We had to play a lot better today, obviously, than we did played up in Norman to be competitive in the game.
Texas Tech took the ball inside throughout the game, outscoring Oklahoma (15-3, 4-2) in the paint by 12 points. The Sooners, who led the conference in scoring defense (62.2) entering Saturday's game, allowed more than 90 points for the first time this season.
Kasib Powell had 19 points for Texas Tech, while Andy Ellis added 18 and Pawel Storozynski 14. Ellis and Storozynski each had seven assists for the Red Raiders, who finished with 25 assists.
