Promotions & new on the job




        • Michael A. Manzler has been appointed partner in the Cincinnati office of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP. Mr. Manzler focuses his practice on representing and counseling employers in all aspects of employment law and labor relations matters. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He also serves on the human resources committee of the Cincinnati United Way and Community Chest as well as the Cincinnati Bar Association's Community Service Board.

        • John Gatchett and Amy D. Bentley have been named vice presidents at Huntington Banks; Julie Belton, vice president and senior relationship manager; Shelly Rizzo and Jason Neuder, assistant vice presidents; and Linda S. Johnson, senior business banking specialist.

        • William E. Brammer has joined People Working Cooperatively as controller.

        • David Brichacek has joined DeanHouston Inc., advertising agency, as graphic designer.

        • Brent Sather has been named associate with Hanscomb in the Cincinnati office.

        • David Scheaffer has joined Dealer Specialties Inc., a division of Trader Publishing Co., as national franchise development manager. Mr. Scheaffer will be in charge of various marketing and sales support initiatives for the 150-plus independent franchises located in 48 states. He was the enhanced services specialist with Frontier Telecommunications.

        • Jim Haus has joined Steinhauser Inc. as vice president of sales and marketing in the printing company.

        • Lois Butt and Robert J. Lindenberger have been named vice presidents at Union Central Life Insurance Co.

        • Tim Seifert has joined Gee, Jeffery and Partners, an international advertising agency that recently opened its U.S. headquarters in Cincinnati, as chairman of U.S. operations.

        • The following have been appointed to the board of trustees for WCET-TV (Channel 48): Bryan C. Dunn, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Western-Southern Life Insurance Co.; J. Joseph Hale Jr., vice president of corporate communications and president of Cinergy Foundation; Damon Jones, manager of external relations for Procter & Gamble's North America market development organization; and Myrtis Powell, vice president for student affairs at Miami University.

        • Rodney D. Reider has been named president of Mercy Franciscan Hospital-Mount Airy. Mr. Reider was president and chief executive officer of North Monroe Medical Center in Monroe, La. He has served in a variety of management positions for the past 18 years. He graduated from Loma Linda University with a master's degree in business administration, finance and marketing, and he graduated from California Polytechnic Institute at Pomona with a master's degree in physiology. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Chapman University.

        • Yvonne M. Sears and Joel M. Galloway have been named new principals at Terry-DeRees Associates Inc.

        • Scott Hollowell has been named news director for WLWT— TV (Channel 5). Mr. Hollowell was vice president of news with WBRC-TV in Birmingham, Ala.

        • J. Lee Owens has joined Cartec Engineering Corp. as project engineer.

        • Laurie Russo has been appointed marketing director at Mercy Health Plex in Westwood.

        • Andrew C. Hagedorn has been named vice president and portfolio manager at Huntington Private Financial Group, Northern Kentucky region. Mr. Hagedorn is responsible for managing investment accounts for high net worth individual and for conducting equity research. He had been with Firstar. He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in economics and management.

        • The following have been appointed to the board of trustees of The World Piano Competition: Frank Mazurco, executive vice president, Steinway & Sons, long-range planning; Sallie Sumerel, vice president, National Performance Arrangements; Jo Selnick, vice president, Tri-State Performance Arrangements; Robert Miller, vice president, Procter & Gamble, finance; Jon Hoffheimer, endowments; Nancy Brinker, membership; and Mort Rabkin, fund-raising.

        • Richard M. Haines, partner with the law firm of Kohnen & Patton LLP, has been re-appointed as a trustee to the board of the Southern Ohio Regional Transit Authority (Queen City Met ro) for a three-year term.

        • Bridget Castellini has been named vice president at Wordsworth Communications. Ms. Castellini was account supervisor. She joined the company in 1997 as an account executive. Outside the workplace, she serves on the board of IMPACT Over the Rhine. She graduated from Xavier University.

        • Steve Shields has joined Hixson as an architectural animator; Gitte Knudsen as architectural designer; and Oksana Lysenko, mechanical designer.

        • Nancy Kremer has been named vice president of The St. Luke Hospitals in Florence and Fort Thomas. Ms. Kremer was interim senior vice president and vice president of patient care services. She has also held positions as the hospitals' director of nursing and assistant director of nursing. She graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in nursing and graduated from Bellarmine College with a master's degree in nursing administration. She also earned a master's degree in business administration from Thomas More College.

        • Willow Creative Group received an Award of Excellence from the 2001 RX Club Show for a medical self-promotional piece.

        • Thompson Hine LLP has received the 2001 WebAward for Best Legal Web site from the Web Marketing Association.

New businesses

               • John Salter has founded Recovery Resource Center, a nonprofit agency at 7710 Reading Road, Roselawn, that provides recovery groups to individuals needing care and to professionals counseling them. Mr. Salter is a licensed social worker at Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
