Enquirer staff and news services
ATHENS, Ohio Steve Esterkamp (LaSalle) had a career-high 29 points for Ohio, which won despite missing leading scorer and rebounder Brandon Hunter (Withrow).
Hunter, who averages 17.8 points and 9.4 rebounds, was suspended for one game by coach Tim O'Shea for violating team rules.
Esterkamp more than made up for Hunter's absence. He hit 9-of-13 shots from the field, including 7-of-9 from 3-point range, got nine of the Bobcats' 15 steals and had six assists.
Sonny Johnson added 26 points off the bench for Ohio (12-6, 7-3 Mid-American Conference). Jon Sanderson and Patrick Flomo each had 12 points and Jaivon Harris scored 11 for the Bobcats.
Ronald Blackshear led Marshall (10-10, 4-6) with 30 points. He made 9-of-15 field goals, 5-of-9 3-pointers and 7-of-7 free throws. Tamar Slay added 14 points, Latece Williams had 11 points and 11 rebounds and J.R. VanHoose 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Thundering Herd.
