Kansas clobbers K-State again


Syracuse too much for WVU

        MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kirk Hinrich shot 10-for-10 from the foul line and scored 26 points Monday night as No.2 Kansas beat Kansas State 98-71 in a game marred by four technical fouls and the ejection of Wildcats coach Jim Wooldridge.

        Jeff Boschee added 16 points, and Nick Collison and Drew Gooden each had 15 for Kansas (20-2, 9-0 Big 12), which clinched its 13th consecutive 20-win season. The Jayhawks won for the 19th straight time in Manhattan and have never lost in Bramlage Coliseum, the Wildcats' home since 1988.

        Kansas State's last home victory over the Jayhawks came on Jan. 29, 1983, in Ahearn Fieldhouse, and the Wildcats last beat Kansas — then ranked No.1 — 68-64 on Jan. 17, 1994 in Lawrence.

        Kansas State (9-11, 3-6), which upset then-No.9 Oklahoma State 70-61 on Saturday, has never beaten two Top 10 teams in a row.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Preston Shumpert scored 20 points and Josh Pace tied a career high with 12 points for the Orangemen to help No.23 Syracuse to a 76-64 victory over West Virginia in a Big East game Monday night.

        The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Orangemen (7-3 Big East).

        MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dajuan Wagner scored 25 points, including Memphis' last eight, and the Tigers (10-4, 10-0 C—USA) remained undefeated in Conference USA.

        AP POLL: Duke is No.2 at being No.1.

        The Blue Devils were the top-ranked team in the AP college basketball poll Monday, their 12th week this season and the 88th time in school history they have been No.1.

        Only UCLA, with 128 weeks, has spent more time on top of the rankings, which began in January 1949.
