Horses: Miss Pickums wins Likely Exchange Stakes
Saratoga Blues debuts at Aqueduct
Enquirer staff, wire reports
Miss Pickums, winner of the 2000 Kentucky Cup Juvenile Fillies at Turfway, scored a 3 1/2-length win over favorite Seven Four Seven in Saturday's Likely Exchange Stakes.
This felt good, winning rider Charlie Woods said. She felt great today. She was relaxed but strong. I had a lot of horse.
AQUEDUCT:
Saratoga Blues made a successful debut in stakes competition and remained undefeated in three career starts, winning the Whirlaway Stakes by 2 lengths.
D'Coach was second in the field of seven 3-year-olds but was dropped to third following a stewards' inquiry into the stretch run. Smoked Em, the original third-place finisher, was moved up to be second.
Saratoga Blues paid $5.80 win mutuel.
