The Insatiable Shopper

Scouting the maketplace with Joy Kraft

Silent wake-up call: There's one in every family — the “morning impaired” who sleeps through the loudest alarm clocks. Now you can rattle them awake with the Shake Awake vibrating pocket-sized alarm clock that slips under your pillow. The battery-powered 3-by-4-inch timepiece promises a pulsating vibration, an audible alarm and a snooze feature. It also may be a wise $29.99 investment for couples who rise at different times; www.shakeawake.com or (800) 599-5321.

Chocolate greetings: Cincinnati's “Chocoholic Chick,” Sheri L. Harney, has a little something to sweeten weddings, baby showers, family reunions, bar mitzvahs, birthdays or any special occasion. It's a 1.55-ounce Hershey bar in personalized wrapper. Ms. Harney, who started Chocoholic a year ago, has 100 designs that can be personalized with “whatever your heart desires.” Orders take about two weeks with a minimum of 16 bars at $1.19 each;www.chocoholicchick.com or call 759-0408.

Notes to self: Sticky notes, the omnipresent reminders of chores and meetings, have taken on a new responsibility — teaching. A Cincinnati company, 8 Point 5 Concepts Ltd., has created Notes to Self, packages of removable stickers offering eight lessons on subjects from vocabulary to Shakespeare and Italian. They stick on any smooth surface and can be easily removed and repositioned. There are no repeats in the 90-sticker packets, but they are not all serious. The Bartender's packet is a collection of drink recipes. $6.99 at Mount Adams Bookstore & Cafe, Wilson's Art Supplies, Montgomery Book Co. and Friends of the Library Shop at the Public Library downtown. www.8point5.com.
