Police seek suspect in Price Hill shooting
Cincinnati police still were looking Saturday for the person who shot and killed a 29-year-old Price Hill man at his home Friday afternoon.
Police were called to the 3700 block of Westmont Drive about 3 p.m. Friday on a report of a person shot. They found Christopher Arrington Jr. lying on the floor of the house.
He was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Homicide investigators said they are seeking a black male in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds and wearing a black leather coat. Mr. Arrington was shot with a small, silver-colored handgun by a man who fled in a car, police said.
Police ask that anyone with information about the shooting contact the Cincinnati police homicide unit at 352-3542 or call Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
Indianapolis man charged in jewel heist
SPRINGDALE An Indianapolis man is accused of switching two diamond rings valued at $10,000 each with cubic zirconia lookalikes at two Rogers Jewelers locations Friday.
Marc A. Szakaly, 30, swapped a diamond ring with a fake at the store's Northgate Mall location in Colerain Township about 2:45 p.m, according to an arrest report.
Shortly after 4 p.m., the report says, he attempted a second heist at the Tri-County Mall store in Springdale, but was foiled by a store clerk who confronted him. Mr. Szakaly switched the cubic zirconia back with the real diamond and left, according to Springdale Police. He was arrested before he left the mall and has been charged with theft, attempted theft and possession of criminal tools.
Priest pleads guilty to solicitation charges
DAYTON An Episcopal priest who served churches in Amelia and Springboro has pleaded guilty in Montgomery County to a felony charge of soliciting sex after a positive HIV test.
The Rev. John C. Cochrane could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Another charge, loitering with the intent to solicit, was dropped.
The Rev. Mr. Cochrane, 54, had served for more than a decade in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio.
He was removed from his post last summer after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor solicitation charge. Sentencing is scheduled for March 14.
I-74 accident victims in hospital Saturday
Four people, including Cincinnati lawyer Kevin R. Flynn of the downtown law firm Griffin & Fletcher, remained at University Hospital Saturday, recovering from a car crash Friday morning on eastbound Interstate 74 between North Bend Road and Montana Avenue.
Mr. Flynn, 41, of Mount Airy is in critical condition. He was driving his 1996 Jaguar west on the highway when he crossed the median and struck an eastbound 1999 Mercury Sable driven by Joanne Schrimpf, 46, of Batesville, Ind.
After the head-on collision, they were transported to University Hospital, along with Mrs. Schrimpf's son, Robert, 17, and her mother, Patricia Chaney, 73, of Delhi Township.
Mrs. Schrimpf was in serious condition Saturday, while Robert and Mrs. Chaney were in fair condition.
Pair arrested, face charges of abduction
Two Cincinnati men were arrested early Saturday and charged with abduction after Cincinnati Police say they forced a woman into a car at gunpoint and drove her to Over-the-Rhine late Friday.
Jason Higgins, 23, of the 4100 block of Dane Ave. Northside, is accused of driving the woman from the 500 block of Klotter Avenue in Fairview to the 100 block of West 15th Street about 11:45 p.m. Friday.
Justin Higgins, 22, of the 2300 block of Iroll Avenue, Westwood, a passenger in the car, is also accused of participating in the abduction.
Police arrested the men on West 15th Street about an hour later, at 12:45 a.m. Bond was set at $25,000 each.
Jail inmates remain at large after breakout
WEST UNION Two inmates who escaped from the Adams County Jail Thursday night after overpowering a guard were still at large Saturday.
Sheriff's deputies are looking for Justin Conn, 22, of West Union, and Brett Burns, 30, of Peebles, who were last seen wearing blue jumpsuits.
Mr. Conn was to be transported to the Orient Correctional Institute after a conviction for illegal manufacture of drugs. Mr. Burns was awaiting trial on the same charge.
Another inmate, Robert Moman, was captured just outside the jail immediately after the escape. Mr. Moman of Manchester is awaiting trial on a rape charge.
Mr. Burns is white, 5-foot-10, 160 pounds, with a medium build, short brown hair, blue eyes and a mustache. Mr. Conn is white, 5-foot-10, 170 pounds with a slim build, short brown hair and brown eyes.

Buckeye Egg Farm asked to move manure
COLUMBUS State environmental regulators have asked Ohio's largest egg farm to move large piles of chicken manure dumped near the Scioto River before it contaminates central Ohio drinking water.
Contractors for Buckeye Egg Farm dumped eight truckloads of chicken manure last week, about 60 miles upstream from where Columbus and its western suburbs draw their drinking water.
