Northern Kentucky University, ranked No.9 in the NCAA women's Division II poll, is expecting an NCAA Tournament berth when the seeds are announced March 3.
Under coach Nancy Winstel, who guided Northern Kentucky to the 1999-2000 Division II national championship, the Norse have secured the top seed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, which starts Wednesday in Evansville, Ind.
NKU (21-5, 17-3 GLVC) ended the regular season Saturday with a 75-58 win over Quincy. The Norse have won at least 20 games each of the past four seasons.
As the No.1 seed, NKU will play No.8 seed St.Joseph's (Ind.) Wednesday.
