Dayton mayor delays hiring of police chief
The Cincinnati Enquirer
DAYTON, Ky. Mayor Ronald Ron Gunning said he won't name a new police chief before Monday. He had hoped to hire a chief by Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Gunning said there are two finalists for the job, which pays $40,000-$45,000 per year. He declined to name the finalists, but said one is an officer in Ohio while the other is an officer at another agency in Kentucky.
Fifteen people applied for the job, which was left vacant after the former chief resigned Feb. 7, after one day on the job. Former Chief Fred Hildebrant has never publicly explained why he left.
Dayton is a riverfront town of 6,000 in Campbell County.
