The Cincinnati Enquirer
Math whizzes from Sycamore Junior High School won first place Saturday in a state competition in Columbus, Ohio, for the fifth year in a row.
One student, April Zhang, a seventh-grader from Loveland, placed third out of 213 middle-school students from across the state in the Ohio MATHCOUNTS competition.
Students from Mason placed third. Alex Mannion of Sycamore earned a fifth-place trophy.
MATHCOUNTS is sponsored by the Engineers Foundation of Ohio and is designed to increase students' interest in math, science and engineering.
