BATAVIA A Clermont County judge Monday sentenced a Miami Township man to 21 years in prison in connection with a home invasion on New Year's Day 2001.
Robert Snead, 38, last week pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated burglary with a gun specification, two counts of kidnapping, one count of felonious assault on a police officer and two counts of assault.
He (also) was determined to be a sexual predator, Clermont County Assistant Prosecutor Daniel Breyer said. He went in there to have sex. No sexual assault occurred, however.
Mr. Snead was accused of entering a home on Romohr Road minutes after a New Year's Eve party broke up, and tying up two adults in separate rooms while four children slept.
Mr. Snead entered the home through an open garage door. Prosecutors say he carried a .45-caliber handgun; a stun gun; a knife; cocaine which he ingested; and a prescription pain drug, Soma, that he forced the couple to take.
The husband, James Stephens, escaped through a window and called 911 from a neighbor's phone.
