Predator's arrest eases minds
Neighbors petitioned to make laws tougher

MIAMI TOWNSHIP Bob Harris says a weight has been lifted from his shoulders and his children's.
Mr. Harris, who helped organize a petition drive in January to try to change state law on people judged to be sexual predators, said the arrest last week of a man on Carpenter Road here in Clermont County for a parole violation is a relief to him and his children.
My daughter was out riding a bicycle for the first time without somebody overseeing them, Mr. Harris said.
David Bryce Tyler was arrested Friday at his residence on Carpenter Road. He was being held at the Clermont County Jail, said Miami Township Police Chief Steve Bailey.
Mr. Tyler was charged with the parole violation by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.
Mr. Tyler was adjudged a sexual predator by Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Ann Marie Tracey in November 2000.
Mr. Tyler's parole officer with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority could not be reached for details on the nature of the parole violation allegation.
Mr. Tyler has been the subject of a petition drive among Carpenter Road neighbors who were troubled by his living on the street. The petition drive presses for legislation for better notification, and proposes civil commitment, which allows states to institutionalize and treat those judged to be sexual predators after they've served their prison terms.
Mr. Tyler, who spent 18 years in prison for a rape conviction involving a minor, moved onto Carpenter Road in January, and his neighbors were notified by law enforcement.
Mr. Harris said neighbors have kept a close eye on Mr. Tyler since he moved onto the street.
