Loving your children: Meet Rabbi Lawrence Kelemen, author of To Kindle a Soul: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Parents and Teachers (Targum Press, $27.95), during a lecture and book signing at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at Yavneh Day School in Kenwood. Rabbi Kelemen will discuss child-rearing wisdom, a theme highlighted in his best-selling book. Break a leg: What kid doesn't dream of taking a bow on the big stage? Learn the basics of performance arts for children during a kids' drama workshop at 7 p.m. March 26 at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Norwood. Lise Friedman, author of Break a Leg! The Kids' Guide to Acting and Stagecraft (Workman Publishing; $14.95), teaches a class on everything kids need to know about voice projection, stage presence, how to get over stage fright and get jobs in film, radio and theater. Better safe: The recent kidnapping tragedy of Danielle Van Dam reminds parents to keep up-to-date identification handy for each child. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement groups recommend that every child have an identification resource available in the event it is needed. KIDSAFE ID, a San Diego-based company, has launched a free program on www.kidsafeid.com that parents and caregivers can use to personalize and print information on their child.
New on Video
Playtime pals: Two new videos for preschoolers hit the shelves this month. Kipper: Cuddly Critters (HIT Entertainment; $9.99) is based on the Noggin cable channel hit show. The video features the playful animated adventures of the curious hound, Kipper, and his animal friends Tiger, Jake, Pig and Arnold. Busy Bob and Silly Spud (HIT; $14.99), the sixth title in the Bob the Builder series, includes four stories: Scoop Has Some Fun, Travis Paints the Town, Travis and Scoop's Race Day and Sneezing Scoop and four mini-adventures. In each story, Bob and his friends pitch in to make sure the mischief-making scarecrow doesn't get too out of control.
