The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and law enforcement groups recommend that every child have an identification resource available in the event it is needed. KIDSAFE ID, a San Diego-based company, has launched a free program on www.kidsafeid.com that parents and caregivers can use to personalize and print information on their child.

Playtime pals: Two new videos for preschoolers hit the shelves this month. Kipper: Cuddly Critters (HIT Entertainment; $9.99) is based on the Noggin cable channel hit show. The video features the playful animated adventures of the curious hound, Kipper, and his animal friends Tiger, Jake, Pig and Arnold. Busy Bob and Silly Spud (HIT; $14.99), the sixth title in the Bob the Builder series, includes four stories: “Scoop Has Some Fun,” “Travis Paints the Town,” “Travis and Scoop's Race Day” and “Sneezing Scoop” and four mini-adventures.
