Cincinnati and tourism officials will unveil a brochure and pamphlets Monday touting Cincinnati's minority businesses, events and historical places as part of a campaign to boost tourism and economic development.

        The campaign, which kicked off March 6, will target major convention-goers, national media and travel companies in Midwestern cities, said Vice Mayor Alicia Reece.

        The slogan: “Cincinnati — We're on the Move.”

        It comes as the city is battling an 8-month-old economic boycott by the Coalition for a Just Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Black United Front, groups protesting what they consider police and economic injustice here.

        Ms. Reece said the marketing initiative, to extend over the next five years, will offer brochures and pamphlets depicting Cincinnati's African-American business owners, historical figures and taxpayers to counter images broadcast nationwide of rioting here in April, she said.

        Since early February, several performers have canceled shows after receiving letters urging them to honor the boycott, including comedian Bill Cosby and jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. This weekend, boycotters staged demonstrations in front of downtown restaurants asking patrons to stay away.

        More details, including how much the city will spend, will be disclosed Monday.
