LEBANON — A Franklin woman accused of embezzling more than $16,000 while she worked at a Franklin bank topped a list of Warren County grand-jury indictments released Monday.

The indictments included a Cincinnati woman accused of patient abuse at a Mason retirement community, and a Richmond Heights, Ohio, woman who authorities say brought marijuana and cocaine onto the grounds of the Warren Correctional Institution.

Melinda Naylor, 22, was indicted on felony theft and forgery counts in connection with the embezzlement of $16,200 from 10 accounts at the Huntington Bank branch in Franklin, Warren County Prosecutor Tim Oliver said.

Ms. Naylor was a teller at the bank from June to November. The embezzlement occurred from Oct. 8-Nov. 23, Mr. Oliver said.

“A customer came in and indicated there was a withdrawal that was not proper,” Mr. Oliver said. “I don't think (authorities) recovered anything.”

The individual withdrawals ranged from $200 to $5,000, Mr. Oliver said.

The affected accounts were typically inactive and held primarily by senior citizens. Most of the accounts were savings accounts, Mr. Oliver said.

        Other indictments:

        • Jacqueline Thompson, 32, of Bond Hill, was indicted on three counts of patient abuse, all felonies. Authorities say she was a nursing assistant at Cedar Village in Mason when she physically abused two female patients, ages 90 and 91. The abuse happened in July and August, police said.

        • Dearlena Swift, 28, was charged with having prohibited items on the grounds of a detention facility and with theft, both felonies. Cocaine and marijuana were found in Ms. Swift's car at Warren Correctional Institution on Feb. 2, police say. She was at the prison to visit an inmate, Mr. Oliver said.

        • Scott A. Webb, 42, was charged with felony driving under the influence after police stopped him near a Springboro restaurant. Records indicate Mr. Webb has had 10 DUI convictions within six years, Mr. Oliver said.

        • Charles D. Harper, 36, of Avondale, was indicted on charges of failing to comply with a police officer and receiving stolen property, both felonies. Authorities say he was driving a stolen car north on Interstate 75 near Monroe on Feb. 8 when he made an abrupt U-turn into southbound traffic.

Police used a helicopter to pursue the car south on I-75 until it crashed in Lockland. The car had been stolen two days earlier from a driveway in Avondale, Mr. Oliver said.
