Slot machine proposal waiting on Senate for start
By Mark R. Chellgren

FRANKFORT The proposal to allow slot machine casinos at horse tracks is sitting at the starting gate and will remain there until the Senate starts things, House supporters said Thursday.
And given the historical enmity and lack of trust between House Democratic leaders and their Republican Senate counterparts, the assurances will have to be firm.
It's going to have to be a strong assurance. Strong. Probably have to have a notary public, said House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark, D-Louisville.
House Democratic Floor Leader Greg Stumbo, of Prestonsburg, said the Senate would not only need to promise 20 votes, but GOP leadership would have to promise to let the bill go to a vote.
