Where to eat on Easter
Families flock to special places

There is no shortage of restaurants open on Easter. If your favorite place usually has Sunday hours, it will probably be open for Easter brunch or dinner. So rather than trying to list every big Easter buffet, I'd like to recommend, in alphabetical order, some of my favorite places for a special family occasion. All times are for Easter Sunday.
Chester's Road House in Montgomery has begun serving a brunch buffet on Sundays, but because Easter dinner at the big restaurant in the old house is such a tradition for many customers, it will not do a brunch Easter. The holiday menu will include the most popular entrees from the regular menu, including rack of lamb. Hours: noon-8 p.m. 9678 Montgomery Road, 936-8600.
The Greyhound Tavern in Fort Mitchell has a comfortable, old-fashioned atmosphere and a menu of Sunday dinner classics with more contemporary specials. It will serve its usual brunch 9 a.m-2 p.m., featuring prime rib and pit ham, and then offer the regular dinner menu from 2-8 p.m. 2500 Dixie Highway, (859) 331-3767.
Parker's Blue Ash Grill will have an Easter brunch buffet 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Along with eggs, smoked salmon and other breakfast items, the buffet will include carved turkey and round of beef. Price: $17.95, $6.95 children 5-10. From 4 to 8 p.m., Parker's will switch to a dinner buffet with prime rib, leg of lamb, turkey breast, ham and cedar-planked salmon. Price: $23.95; $20.95 children 5-10. 4200 Cooper Road, 891-8300.
The Rookwood Pottery Bistro in Mount Adams will be open 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. There will be no special brunch or Easter menu, but the regular menu of simple but sophisticated bistro dishes is good. 1077 Celestial St., 721-5456.
On the other hand, Sturkey's in Wyoming, which used to have a Sunday brunch but doesn't anymore, will bring it back for Easter (and Mother's Day). Paul Sturkey is putting baked chicken, salmon, shrimp stir-fry, ham and garlic-rosemary leg of lamb on the buffet, and Pam Sturkey is creating a pastry table. Price: $22.95; $9.95 ages 3-12, children 3 and under free. The buffet will be available 11:45 a.m.-5 p.m. 400 Wyoming Ave., 821-9200.
Vito's Cafe in Fort Thomas usually opens at 5 p.m. Sundays, but it will open at 3 p.m. on Easter, with music from the singing staff beginning at 4 p.m. The regular Italian menu will be available, plus an Easter special of roast rack of lamb with new potatoes and asparagus. 654 Highland Ave., (859) 442-9444.
