HAMILTON Authorities Thursday said that the body of a man found in a Hamilton creek Wednesday is that of 33-year-old Paul W. Brown of Hampshire Drive in Hamilton.
Police are investigating the death, which has been ruled a homicide.
A spokeswoman for Butler County Coroner Dr. Richard Burkhardt said she could not provide information as to the date of death, where Mr. Brown was killed or how long the body had been in the water.
An autopsy was scheduled Thursday.
The victim was discovered face-down in the creek bed and this death is classified as a homicide, Hamilton Police Chief Neil Ferdelman said. This was a violent death that the victim suffered.
Sgt. Thomas Kilgour, public affairs officer, could not go into details of the killing, but said evidence indicates that Mr. Brown was killed. The body was partially submerged in the water, he said.
The body was discovered about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Two-Mile Creek, which runs behind Washington Square Apartments on North Washington Boulevard. Police were called to the area after the body was found by children, police said.
