The report based on Environmental Protection Agency emissions data found that sulfur dioxide emissions increased by 37,037 tons, the fourth highest increase in the nation, at Cinergy's Miami Fort plant and increased by 29,293 tons at its Walter C. Beckjord plant.

Nitrogen oxide emissions at the Beckjord plant also increased by 5,288 tons, the report said.

Cinergy says it reduced overall sulfur dioxide emissions by 47 percent and nitrogen oxide emissions by 25 percent since 1990.
